Senior Advisor, Network Modernization and Cloud Security

A large federal public sector organization is changing the way it connects its users, in Canada and abroad. The traditional wide area network is giving way to a cloud architecture built on Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) and zero trust principles, with two aims: a better experience for users and a stronger security posture, at a controlled cost.

The mandate is to act as senior advisor to IT leadership for this program: guiding several project managers, aligning the work with partners in other federal organizations and carrying risk issues up to senior management.

Scope

• Lead project managers and key stakeholders, including in other departments
• Set how the program components are developed and implemented
• Track progress and report to IT leadership and governance committees
• Define the change management and user engagement strategy
• Maintain the integrated schedule and dashboards, and write briefing notes on critical risks

Requirements

• At least ten years as a strategic advisor, developing business strategies and processes
• At least five years of strategic advice on cloud projects
• At least three years leading an IT transformation as a project executive, in an organization with users spread across many sites
• At least three years, within the last five, assessing and optimizing network components (WAN, LAN) in a decentralized organization
• A post-secondary degree or diploma in business or computer engineering, Canadian or recognized as equivalent

Assets

• Cloud networking deployed across several countries, in hybrid environments
• Applying security control frameworks (ITSG-33 or equivalent) and secure connectivity between cloud and on-premises environments
• Security Assessment and Authorization (SA&A) of IT systems
• Several years as senior advisor or project executive on programs of this scale

Terms

Work is mostly remote, with occasional presence at the client's offices in the National Capital Region. Full-time mandate of about 11 months, in English. An interview with the client may be part of the process.
